Jack DeGioia is president of Georgetown University, a position he assumed in 2001. He is also a professorial lecturer in Georgetown’s department of philosophy. Prior to his appointment as president, Jack held a number of senior administrative positions at Georgetown, including senior vice president and dean of student affairs. Jack is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics, and is on the executive committee of the Council on Competitiveness. He is chair of the board of Campus Compact, and serves on the boards of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and the Forum for the Future of Higher Education. Most recently, Jack was honored as a Washingtonian of the Year 2008 by Washingtonian magazine. Jack earned his BA in English and his Ph.D. in philosophy at Georgetown.
