As Executive Vice President and Head of Institutional Business at TIAA-CREF, Teresa leads the institutional retirement business, which serves more than 16,000 colleges, universities, K-12 school districts, health care systems, local and state governments and other nonprofit organizations. A member of the company’s executive management team, she oversees a team of approximately 900 employees who drive sales strategy, product development and management, relationship and services management, participant consulting and advice. During a career spanning nearly 30 years in financial services, Teresa has amassed deep experience in a variety of senior positions. Before joining TIAA-CREF more than 5 years ago, she led the small-market retirement services group, mid-market retirement business, HR/payroll and outsourcing business, as well as investment product strategy and communication and analysis at Fidelity Investments. A passionate advocate for helping women achieve financial security, Teresa championed the development of TIAA-CREF’s Woman-to-Woman Financial Empowerment Series. She also devotes time to organizations that focus on improving literacy, creating opportunities for the disadvantaged and mentoring young people. Teresa holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
